A FUN WAY TO PRACTICE ON THE GO

WHAT? “PRACTICE ON PENCIL?”

You may be sitting in school day dreaming of your violin bow with a pencil in your hand, I know I do! The pencil gives us the opportunity to practice our bow hold away from the instrument.

DO YOU KNOW THE “BUNNY BOW HOLD”?

When you begin to learn to the bow hold we start with a bunny bow hold that can be done on a pencil. There is a great picture example in your Suzuki book 1 with the thumb bent and ears up. Using a pencil is less weight and will help us get the form of the bow hand. Good reminders for each finger are, bumpy thumb, curly pinky, middle fingers are best friends and pointer is captain hook.

HOLDING YOUR BOW
